There was an article on a British newspaper today about the torture of bears for sport in Pakistan that has horrified me. It shows photos of a bear covered in blood, with the flesh torn off its face trying to get away after it has been attacked by trained dogs. These bears teeth and claws are pulled out and they are tied down so that they cannot move. Then they are taken into an arena where specially trained dogs are let loose on them, to the delight of the thousands of spectators.
The WSPA?s have tried to bring this to the world?s attention in the past and was promised by the Pakistani government that they would clamp down on it. But it continues to flourish. The WSPA has published these photo?s to bring people?s attention to the situation again and have asked people to write to the Pakistani Ambassador in London: Pakistani Embassy, 34-36 Lowndes Square, London SW1X 9JN, or alternatively to e-mail: [email protected], to voice their outrage at this continued practise.
